        <summary>Hey everyone!

Thanks so much to everyone who came out to see us at Frubble! You guys made it a lot of fun. I guess we'll have to make an effort to do some more of the all ages show as we got a very good turn out of people who aren't yet allowed in to the second wind bars.

Big thanks again to Mark and Caroline at Frubble for having us, we can't wait to come back! If any of you haven't been yet, you should make it a point to head on out there. they have great raps and I can personally speak for their Strawberry smoothies. With internet access, a Weii and big screen, what more do you want before and after the show?

Our official website, www.corywilkinsband.com should be up this week and we'll get the email list notices off to those of you that signed up and we'll include your link to the free download. Just give us a few more days on that.

Anyway, thanks to you guys who came out, all of us in the band had a great time. Don't forget we're at the second wind Navaho on the 7th and Santee on the 8th. Look forward to seeing you guys then.

<summary>If you've seen our calendar you've realized that we have quite a few shows coming up. I'm very excited about all of them, but our return to Second Wind Santee and the show for the San Diego Blood Bank I'm especially siked for.

It's been a long time, I think about eight months since we've played Santee, so we should get a good fun crowd and the band always seems to step it up an extra bit when that happens and the show on the 13th is for a great cause and cheers to the students for coming up with such a creative idea to promote the event. I'm not sure whatelse would encourage college students to come to an event like this more than three days of free music. Big thanks to David who's my contact for this event, for keeping things moving ahead and communicating every step of the way.

Other than that we've just been rehearsing a lot, I've been doing a lot of research for promotion for the new album when it comes out, yes this is months away, but I don't want to be sitting here with the release date flying at me trying to figure out how we can most effectively get the music out to you guys. I've got a few new songs that I want to work up with the band, then from maybe 15 or 16 songs, we'll choose the 10 or 12 of them that work best together and that will be the album. I don't think we'll be recording till maybe June, but there's no need to rush. I want to make sure everything is ready before we get started.

Anyway, back to work for me. Hope to see you guys at some of the up coming shows. Till then, take care.

<summary>Wow, it's been a while. Hope you're all doing ok.

We've been very busy over in CWB land. We had a show down at Portugalia in OB which was a blast. A lot of folks down there who I haven't seen in a while and they hadn't heard the new songs. Made for a real good time.

One of the best times I've had in a while though was the last time we played at the second wind and Eric pointed out that 2 of the players from Serious Guies were there for a little bit. Interestingly enough, the very next night they were playing at a bar right down the street from where I'm living and Eric, Laura and I went down to check out the show. Simply put, they are one of the most fun bands around. Everything from classic rock standards to some more modern and heavier stuff.

I got to chat a bit with the guys between sets and they invited me up to sit in on, &quot;Give Me Three Steps.&quot; I'm not usually one of those, &quot;can I sit in with the band,&quot; kinda guys, but this seemed like it would be a good time. We played a really cool, slightly faster than the original version. I even got to take the solos which I wasn't totally expecting, but it was really cool, since their lead guitarist is lightyears better than I.

We've also had the oppertunity to do a bit of session work over at the studio which is really a great chance for the band to grow as musicians together. It's totally different when we have to answer to clients rather than just ourselves, though we are very harsh critics of our own music most times, however, it's interesting to get feedback from people who haven't lived in our heads for the past few years.

It's off to rehearsal tonight then session in the morning, then Molly's on Friday. I think we're going to have a lot of people out that night, so if you're reading this, plan on coming and joining the party. I'll see ya Friday!

Hope you're having a great week.

Just wanted to check in and say hey. We've got a rehearsal coming up in a couple hours. We got two new songs we're working on which brings the current total of tunes that are being considered for the new album up to eleven. Pretty exciting stuff. We're also going to spend some time getting ready for the show on the 25th. I hope you all come out and see it. I think we're taking the early spot this time, so that'll be fun.

For those of you who didn't know, I'm a pretty avid poker player. Fun hobby that always keeps me thinking and on my toes. Last night a bunch of my friends from the forum over at pokerroad.com stopped by my song swagger site here and I just wanted to say thanks for coming by, listening to the songs and supporting indipendent music.

If any of y'all musicians are in to the game at all, check out the site, there's a great forum over there, where I am one of the more frequent participants. In other words, if I'm not lingering on the songswagger site, I'm lerking on the poker road forum.

Anyway, till next time, take care of each other.

        <summary>Hey everybody!

Hope you had a great weekend. I didn't do too terribly much, besides eat a lot of pizza and watch the superbowl. For the first time in a few years, the team I was cheering for actually won, so I was pretty excited!

Other than that, the country band I play in had a little birthday party gig on Saturday night, of course, the CWB had a gig Wednesday, which for those of you who were there, I'm glad you made it. Trying out a few of those original songs without Jeff was a challenge, but his attention was required elsewhere. This was partly my fault, since we haven't worked together before, we just didn't get together on this gig till the last minute and he already had another committment. Totally my bad.

We had fun, and as always it was fun playing with the Burning Sage band. That band actually let's me show up and play keys with them, so that's pretty cool. Not too often a group will do that. Our show was probably one of the better one's we've had since we started playing out again. Bob was on his kit, which he's more comfortable with, we didn't have the distraction of a video camaera and we were able to pull off what we had worked on in practice, which for those of you who don't play might not know, this is much more difficult than it might seem.

Anyway, the next gig is on Feb 25th at navaho. I think we're taking the early spot this time with my country band, &quot;Steele Horse,&quot; taking the late spot. Come on out, you'll have a blast.

Till next time, take care. I'll be chatting at ya soon.

        <summary>Hey everyone!

As I told you last time we had a little recording session on Monday. We went in at about 10 AM and had a little bit of trouble getting the drum sounds we wanted. New heads and we didn't have 1 of the toms that we really wanted, but we fiddled and worked it until we got some tones we're happy with. This probably won't be the version of the song that ends up on the album, but we had a few reasons for wanting to get a quick, but solid demo of it.

I think all the technical problems with the drums may have effected us the rest of the session 'cause none of us were really on our A game. It wasn't that we tracked poorly, we just had to reach a little deeper to get a track that we were satisfied with. Guess it happens to everyone, so no big deal though I wish our first session hadn't have been a tough one.

I guess it's kind of tough too since we haven't recorded in over 4 years and haven't tracked a basic track with drums in over 5, so it might take a few hours to climb back on the horse. This proved to be the case as we were finishing up with my song we had been asked to be the backing band for this song writer who had written a song and wanted a recording of it with a band. By the time we started tracking that tune, we were starting to fire with full power. It was weird though, it was like for the first hour and a half of tracking someone just sucked the energy out of the band.

Anyway, that's a little inside information, when you guys hear the tune you'll never know we had trouble. The final drum track sounds great as does the base and I'm happy with the guitars I laid down.

Jeff is putting down his parts either yesterday or today, I haven't talked to him since Monday, but I'm siked to hear that. Then I guess it's some keys and I go in and sing.

Anyway, got a little show tonight and navaho with the Burning sage Band starting at 8. Hope you all can make it out.

Till next time, take care of each other.

Like I said in the last blog, we're going to be putting down tracks for 1 song today to see how it goes. <summary>Hey everyone!

Sorry I haven't written for a few days, but I haven't even had my computer turned on.

Wednesday morning we went over to the studio and did a re-write for a bunch of the new songs, making sure the hooks are good and plentiful, hammoring out the arrangements etcetera. Then on Thursday I just had a few things around the house to do, then Friday I was up early in the morning for court.

For those of you who don't know, a former business associate took me to court back in April, I couldn't afford a lawyer and lost the trial, so have had to go through quite a post-trial process, but it's all good. So, I had what I hope is my last hearing yesterday morning, then rehearsal with the original band, then the cover band played Molly's up in Ramona last night.

We hadn't been to Molly's in a long time, so it was great to see everyone, we had a good turn out and a lot of fun. So, the band van pulled in to the driveway at about 3 this morning and I was up early, unloaded the van and now I'm getting ready for rehearsal with a country cover band I play in. We should be starting that in just a few minutes.

Oh, btw, first official recording session for the new matterial is Monday morning! Everyone in the band is very excited. We're going to start with 1 song, which we all think is quite strong and we should be close to done tracking that the same day. Hopefully we can do the whole record that quickly.

Anyway, gotta go tune up the ol guitar. Take care of yourselves and each other.

        <summary>Hey everybody!

I was up till about two this morning working on a couple of new song ideas. I think at least one of them has a shot to make it on our next album, but I'm not quite sure yet. We start rewrite sessions for the new stuff tomorrow morning. So basically the way it works is I write a song, bring it in and I sit down with the studio guy and we polish it up... make sure it's got a good hook and try and figure out what the arrangement is going to be.

I've never really been through this part of the process, so I'm kind of excited. It's always a challenge when you give up even a little control over your creations, but once you get to this level, it's really the best thing. The end result is all that really matters and perhaps with a little luck, we'll have something that catches on.

Anyway, I'll be getting ready today, going through all of the songs, making sure I have a good grasp on what's there already.

Well, suppose I gotta get to work. Hope to be seeing you soon. Take care of yourselves and each other.

        <summary>Hi everyone!

I told you guys last blog I had some kinda cool news. Here goes. The Cory Wilkins Band has signed with local indipendent label King's Ransome Records. We're fortunate enough to join a fantastic artist roster on the label for the next two years. We're going through a period of artist development right now... just had our first session yesterday which was a blast. So now it's off to polish up the new songs, make sure they're ready to go and we will probably start recording pretty soon.

Obviously no projection on when this thing might be done by and I know it's been a long time since the last record, but as I think most of you know, that is not entirely my fault. Anyhow, this looks to be a lot of fun and I am completely energized for music again.

Hope you all take care and come see one of our up-coming shows. Till next time, take care of yourselves.

        <summary>Hey everyone!

We got a little bit of rain here in San Diego, though not nearly as much as projected which is probably a good thing. I guess it's supposed to be on and off this week and we might get up to twelve inches... yikes!

Ok, so up next for the band is some more bookings. My long-time pal and fellow musician Jefferson Jay has this cool little restaurant/bar in OB called Portugalia where we'll probably have a show coming up in the next month or two. Nothing booked yet, but it will be. the place is pretty cool with good food, lots of drinks and right in hte middle of OB. Only thing is dragging all the gear up a flight of stairs. Guess worse things have happened.

I'm looking in to a couple of other things as well, but since we litterally just started playing together a couple of weeks ago, we don't have all of the matterial ready to book up lots of shows. It's coming and you can trust that we're working on this stuff every day.

My buddy Shane hosts an internet radio show on:
www.lunaticradio.net
Every Monday night from 7-10:00 PM pasific and last night he featured the Cory Wilkins Band for a couple of tunes. It was pretty awesome and next Monday night, let's all show our support and listen in... maybe if you guys get the request thing going, he'll play some more CWB... no I'm not requesting myself, so hopefully some of y'all do it.

Well my lovely girlfriend Kathi just handed me my coffee, which presents nearly a perfect life except that she handed me the coffee in my Chargers mug. All of my picks and favorite teams are out, so I guess football is pretty much over for me this year. Doesn't look like the Padres or Red Sox, my two baseball teams, are going to get anything going either. Long year for sports.

You all take care of yourselves. As I'm sure you've noticed I added a new song to the songs page, I'll be doing that periodically, so check back here soon and you'll get bunches of new tunes to enjoy, also look for an upcoming calendar update.

I'd like to give a huge, gigantic thanks to everyone who came out to the show on thursday night. I know it was a late one on a week night and all. Your support means a lot to us here at the CWB, so we thank you very much.

I hope you all enjoyed the new songs and saw the performance as a success. We had a couple technical problems, my monitor went completely dead right round about the fifth song, but what the heck, the show kept going.

I thought for a first time out it was a pretty respectible showing, we played all the songs pretty well, the pacing seemed a little slow at points, but that will get better. Main thing though, I had a blast! It's always a pleasure to share a bill with Burning Sage, Kenny, Rick, Bobby and Eric are all uniquely talented guys.

So, I'm kind of interested in what you guys have to say about Jeff, the new guitarist. For Eric, Laura and I, he's a true joy to work with. He's one of the most talented individuals I've ever met and also one of the easiest people to work with too. I hope you enjoyed his killer solos, you'll hear much much more of Mr. Sers.

I've got some other cool news, but I'm going to hold you guys in suspense and sit on it for a little while. Just got to wait till all the details are worked out and I can give you all the info, but just know, we're working on some really cool stuff. Watch here for updates and more show listings. We'll be booking up some this week.

<summary>Hey everyone. This is my first blog here on song swagger. I've made various attempts to blog a few other times, but have always neglected them after a month or so. Hopefully I can have a little discipline here and keep you all up to date on what the band is doing.

This past week we've been working very hard preparing for Thursday night's show at the Second Wind Navaho. Jeff Sers, our new guitarist was going to start playing with us back in December, but hurt his hand or some such nonsense and was unable to play guitar for a few weeks, so we've been rehearsing for our debut show almost every day this past week.

Today the band got a day off which we very much needed. The set is sounding great and we're getting together one more time to run the whole thing from top to bottom before we do the real deal.

I got to watch some football today and sadly see my Pats go down, ok I'm originally from New Hampshire, I can't help it, but I'm excited to see the Chargers beat up on the Jets next week. The Chargers really seem to have what it takes this season, hopefully our key players can avoid injurries.

Well, I hope you guys can come out to see the Band at Navaho on Thursday night, we go on at 10:00 after the Burning Sage Band at 8:00. Show up for the early show, you'll enjoy both groups a lot, but be sure to have a good excuse for the boss so you can come in late on Friday, because you'll want to stay till the end of the night. See you guys on thursday, come say hi and let me know you read this blog here.

Regards,
